About Me

I’ve been involved in driver training for more than 20 years, and in that time I’ve worked with everyone from brand-new learner drivers through to experienced drivers developing advanced and professional driving skills.

Today, alongside running Elite Driver Training, I work as an emergency-services driver trainer, delivering practical driver training in a demanding professional environment where observation, planning, vehicle control, decision-making and safety all matter.

My approach is strongly influenced by Roadcraft and the IPSGA system of driving – Information, Position, Speed, Gear and Acceleration. But for me, good driver training isn’t about simply teaching a system or getting someone through a test. It’s about helping people understand what is happening around them, look further ahead, make better decisions and become safer, more confident drivers.

Over the years I’ve worked as a driving instructor, advanced and fleet driver trainer, emergency services trainer, driver testing officer, and as an IAM and RoSPA observer and coach. That experience has given me a broad understanding of how different people learn and, importantly, how to adapt my coaching to suit the individual sitting beside me.

I genuinely enjoy driver training. Whether I’m helping someone move off safely for the first time, preparing a learner for their practical test, rebuilding someone’s confidence behind the wheel, or coaching a more experienced driver in advanced Roadcraft techniques, I want every lesson to feel positive, relaxed and worthwhile.

Elite Driver Training was created to bring that experience to drivers across Kāpiti in a professional but approachable way — with practical coaching, honest feedback and a genuine focus on helping you become a better driver, not simply pass a test.
